Project collaboration with ayman rashid
Statement
Ayman Rashid is an artist, designer, photographer, and a good friend of mine. He has a fascinating way of viewing the world through his eyes, as he presents his high interest in high fashion: its impact, psychology, and the philosophy of individualistic self-expression. Ayman’s vision consists of a strong visual juxtaposition of Brutalist grunge with a blend of minimalistic modernism. The collaborative aspect of this project was a valuable experience; I had a chance to convey my friend’s narrative in a visual direction, through a short interview and working with him as one artist to another. I saw geometric shapes, chrome objects, avant-garde angles, rough textures, and cold neutrals in monochromatic color scales. Aside from the artistic and collaborative aspect, this opportunity inspired me to explore more the value of individualism and uniqueness, to delve deeper into the identities and narratives of individuals, and to convey what makes them, themselves, through a series of research and interviews.
